I love old Christian books. I love going to the Evangelical Library in London to browse their large selection of old Christian books. Not all of them are good - no, but many have gems inside them that you just won't find in more modern books. Here is my latest gem: Ears for Little Gleaners by Herbert Dawson, C. J. Farncombe and Sons Ltd, London, 1922 I can't find any copies for sale that I can recommend to you, although it is in the public domain in America - I'm not sure about the UK. It is a series of sermons told to the young people in Bethersden Baptist Chapel - not so very far from where I live - by the author, who was the pastor there. This man understood children - and he understood the gospel. He had a knack of directing the shafts of truth accurately to the target - the child's soul. This is rare in our modern age. We generally do not understand ourselves, let alone the gospel, well enough to do so. Reading through I found these verses and have copied them out to hang on the walls of my kitchen. My young people are aging now - but none of us are too old for these verses! We are never too young or old to be on guard for the attacks of the flesh, that come from our 'old ' heart. Sadly, though we have new hearts as Christians, we can still operate by the old one and live for self. Learning to deny ourselves is often a hard and painful course of lessons throughout life. Have a look at these! How easily we take offence! In a flash it seems, anger throws all reason out of the window - it is indeed a foe to sense! How unreasonable we become when we want our own way and can't have it. How we contravene God's rules for holy living by doing so! Yet - who dare say they don't ever feel angry? How quick we are to 'brood o'er wrong' instead of being quick to forgive! Angry words hurt too, as the poem below tells us so well: And then this one... A lesson for us all - lies are lies no matter how big or small: always speak the truth! I have made them available to you as a pdf download, with 2 pictures to colour (from the book) and each of the verses arranged for copywork. I hope they are of value to your homeschool!

Welcome! After studying for an Early Years Specialism degree (B.Ed. Hons), and teaching in mainstream education, I home-educated my own children, after my husband and I were persuaded of the need to take responsibility for bringing up our children 'in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.'
